HCN Networking Events & Meetings

About HCN Events

HCN Events are usually divided into two sessions:

  • The first part of the event  is a networking/information  & discussion session, with a specific  theme and guest presentation(s). If you are a member of a voluntary or community organization you are  welcome to come along. Tea, coffee and nibbles are available.
  • The second part of the event involves an HCN Network meeting. This is for HCN members (representatives of HCN member groups) who spend an hour or so going through the key items on the Local Strategic Partnership agenda. Members of the  Executive Group also attend - this is their chance to hear what groups are doing on the ground, picking up issues that are affecting them and generally gathering intelligence from the VCS in preparation for their role as VCS representatives at the LSP.
  •  We encourage all HCN representatives to come to these board meetings.
  • Themes of previous HCN events  have focused on issues such as Welfare Reform, NHS Reform and Environmental initiatives.

·          Our most recent event: Education and Accountability – going to school in Hastings in 2014’ on June 19th 2014 was held in partnership with the Hastings Exchange. The Hastings Exchange is a part of the University of Brighton in Hastings and supported by The Community University Partnership Programme and The department for Economic and Social Engagement.

·           The event saw over sixty people attend with representation from the voluntary and community sector, schools, the Youth Council and the University if Brighton. Hastings Community Network has prepared a  position statement which sums up the event, highlights points raised from it and looks at future actions.  A copy of the position statement is attached below.
